Switzerland, joined at the end of the match by Israel, not yet qualified for Euro 2024

For the 7th day of qualifying for Euro 2024, Switzerland challenged Israel this Wednesday, at the Pancho Aréna in Felcsút, in Budapest (Hungary). The match, scheduled for October 12 in Tel Aviv, was postponed to neutral ground, due to the war between Israel and Hamas, triggered on October 7 by the terrorist attack.

Surprised at the end of the match by Israel, Switzerland conceded the draw (1-1). Akanji and his teammates have therefore not yet secured their qualification for Euro 2024 (June 14-July 14 in Germany). For their part, the Israelis can continue to believe in this group I, without going through the League of Nations.

In this match which promised to be decisive for the Israelis, Augsburg winger Ruben Vargas opened the scoring in favor of Switzerland in the 36th minute. The Swiss generally dominated but lacked realism, with around fifteen shots in their favor, half of which were on target. The Helvetii allowed the Israelis to snatch a draw in the 88th minute, through Shon Weissman.
