Trip to Messina for the Karate Judo Club of Sciacca, present at
International Mediterranean Trophy with both the kata and kumite sectors. The instructor Michele Catanzaro will accompany the athletes in the race. Around 800 athletes from Puglia, Campania, Calabria, London and Sicily gathered at the Messina University Center as part of an event promoted by the Fijlkam regional committee. A large group of athletes presented on the tatami by the Karate Judo Club of master Pippo Piazza.
For Kata, these are the results: Francesco Restivo, in the Cadet category, obtained fifth place after a good performance, only losing the final for third and fifth place against a strong athlete from Catania; Vincenzo Interrante, Senior category, took home second place, remaining in first place with the highest score in the preliminary stages and losing only in the final to the very strong athlete of the English national team.
In the Kumite Specialty, however, Alessio Nicosia Cadet Category loses in the first match due to questionable refereeing; Samuele Albanese Junior Category also lost in the first match against a strong athlete and then was not re-fished. Same category and result also for Mattias Albanese. Francesca Liotta, Junior category up to 66 kilograms, obtains a brilliant 3rd place in her first competition experience. Enea Falcone Under 14 Category loses the first match, is fished out and then loses unfairly. Vincenzo Santangelo Under 14 Category, however, wins the first narrow match, but loses in the second match and is not drawn back. Francesco Lo Bue Under 14 category loses the first match and is not drawn back. Carmelo Di Vincenzo Under 14 Category wins the first match in a big way, but loses in the second match with flags and is not rescued. Finally, Gioele Albanese in the Under 14 category loses in the first flag match, is fished out and then loses.
