Success of Garr’Ô Festival Continues with Second Edition Organized by Young People in the Region

Building on the success of the first edition of the Garr’Ô festival, created in 2022, young people from the region put it back in place during the autumn holidays, in the five municipalities of the Garrigues living area: Bezouce, Cabrières, Lédenon, Marguerittes and Saint-Gervasy.

The project was born from the desire of a group of young people from Tita de l’Escal to organize events in the different villages. It is with this desire that they quickly opted for a festival that would both offer a large-scale event to all young people in the area, and why not, motivate other young people to get involved. commit in order to keep their community alive.

Around fifteen associations brought together

Their project quickly became part of the dynamic of Youth Projects launched by the Caf du Gard, the departmental council, the Mutualité sociale agricole du Languedoc as well as the Youth, Engagement and Sports Service (SDJES) of National Education, with the aim of objective of promoting projects, actions and/or approaches meeting the specific needs of young people, particularly adolescents.

For this 2023 edition, the two themes selected were sport and digital. Thus, every afternoon, with the support of local associations, tournaments and other initiations were offered: futsal, boxing, aikido, football, tennis, hip-hop, skate-roller, judo, archery. bow and handball. This made it possible to bring together more than fifteen local associations, whether cultural, sporting or otherwise, with rich and diversified sports initiations, refreshment and catering areas and a digital space. Every evening, an e-sports tournament was organized with numerous sports-themed video games. A game library area and a digital workshop with tablets were freely accessible every afternoon and evening under the supervision of the organizers. The “Garr’Ô festival” was once again an attractive element this year. The attendance this year was very significant, in fact, between 50 and 80 people showed up every day to participate in the different initiations offered in the different municipalities thanks to the young people in coordination of the event who were fully invested. The closing of the festival in Lédenon was intended to be dynamic and musical, in this sense, the group No Soucy livened up the evening with music from all generations. A festival film was created during this event by young people accompanied by the V2C association, it will be promoted at the end of the year.
