Judo: On the 28th/29th The annual international Eagle Cup took place in Frankfurt am Main in October. A total of around 1,600 athletes took to the mat on both days. Before the tournament, a training course with the top athletes took place the day before. The “Power Boys” course for the boys was led by Alexander Wieczerzak and Martyna Trajdos was on site for the girls “Ippon Girls”.
Many nations were represented in this large, strong Eagle Cup, such as the Netherlands, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Greece, Great Britain, Switzerland and also many federal states such as Bavaria, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Saxony.
The Judo Club Holzwickede also traveled to Frankfurt am Main with a large group of parents and fans for the tournament. A total of 17 judoka started from the JCH who wanted to compete in this tournament.
Elena Schmidt started in the -40 kg weight class in the youth U11. Elena went into her encounters very motivated and showed great judo. Due to a small mistake she had to admit defeat prematurely. She didn’t let herself be deterred and continued in the consolation round for third place. Elena was able to win this encounter early and was able to look forward to a deserved third place at the Adler Cup 2023.
It continued in the U13 m/f age group: Linus Hoffmann started in the -40 kg weight class. Linus was very motivated and focused in his matches and was able to fight his way to the semi-finals. Due to a little carelessness he had to admit defeat. The consolation round continued. His opponent in the final came from Potsdam, both athletes gave each other nothing and were on equal terms. Linus prevailed, won this encounter and deservedly came third.

The coaching team with Fabian Langer, Julian Körner and Carolin Körner were very satisfied with the judoka’s performance.
