Graz/Linz – The dress rehearsal was a success. On Thursday Sturm Graz will face Rakow Czestochowa in the Europa League home game, and on Saturday Austria Lustenau was defeated 2-0. With a victory over Rakow, Sturm would hibernate in the European Cup. The task against the Polish club will not be easy simply because of the conditions in the Merkur Arena. “The pitch conditions are catastrophic again, it’s a sand pit with a great risk of injury for the players, it has nothing to do with a football pitch. You should question the company that laid this turf,” complained coach Christian Ilzer. A new green was only laid in the stadium in Graz-Liebenau in October.
