Skiing in Livigno starts on November 18th

The 2023-24 winter season promises to be full of days dedicated to winter sports: the whole of Valtellina has already welcomed the first snowfall, which has silently painted the villages, woods and ski slopes white.
Since the first snowflakes fell, Livigno has begun to prepare for the arrival of winter, which will officially begin on December 2nd with the opening of the lifts, kicking off a new fun season in which winter sports enthusiasts they will be able to enjoy entire days discovering the ski area with over 115km of slopes.

Skiing in Livigno starts on November 18th

To celebrate the current spectacular snow conditions, which currently see almost a meter of snow at altitude, the Carosello 3000 has chosen to open two weeks earlier than scheduled: from Saturday 18 November, in fact, you will be able to ski on the slopes Polvere, Baby and on the slopes served by the Federia lift, purchasing the “early pass” day ticket at the lift ticket office.

The cross-country track is already open

Furthermore, the cross-country track was opened at the end of October, created thanks to the snowfarming technique, an innovative snow conservation method which, through the use of reusable wood wool mats and geothermal sheets, protects the snow collected during the previous winter from summer temperatures to limit its melting, so as to be able to reuse it for the following winter season.

Open every day, it hosts training sessions for athletes and national teams every morning, while from 12.00 it is open to all enthusiasts of the discipline. It is currently 3.4km long, but the aim is to reach its full length – therefore 35km – by 17 December, the date on which one of the first competitive events of the winter season will be held, namely the famous
“La Sgambeda” free technique cross-country race which sees professionals and amateurs compete every year.

Hiking routes on fresh snow are also open

Non-skiers who want to enjoy the fresh snow, however, can choose to undertake the “Mountain Walk” starting from the arrival point of the Carosello 3000 cable car, suitable for everyone and perfect for enjoying a panoramic view while walking on the packed snow.

Otherwise it is possible to venture out with snowshoes (also known as “snowshoes”) on the four “managed routes” currently open, namely Valle delle Mine, Baitel da Plascianet, Plazec and Latteria: these are beaten paths, created by the team freeride project in areas adjacent to the ski facilities and constantly monitored, which allow you to admire up close the beauty of the nature of the area, even more silent thanks to the blanket of immaculate snow that has enveloped Little Tibet.
