Édison Toloza, remembered as one of the scorers of the last two decades of Colombian soccer, suffered this Monday, May 6, a shocking traffic accident in Cali. The former player, who due to his uniqueness was nicknamed ‘Tolotelli’—alluding to the Italian player Mario Balotelli—was driving a motorcycle that suffered a crash in the capital of Valle del Cauca.

According to the information known so far, the accident occurred in the early hours of Monday. However, the event did not gain echo until late at night.
As reported by the Barranquilla newspaper ‘El Heraldo’, a former teammate of Toloza in the Junior de Barranquilla reported that the former forward suffered a serious head trauma.
Due to the seriousness of what happened, Toloza was immediately taken to the Cristo Rey Clinic, where he received the first attention and is being treated.

This Tuesday, while waiting for the first official medical report to be known, the first image of Toloza after the accident stood out on social networks. The person in charge of sharing it was Juan Guillermo ‘Carachito’ Domínguez, with whom Toloza shared a team in Millonarios and Junior de Barranquilla.

Through his Instagram account, the Valle del Cauca left back released the first image of Toloza.
According to the publication shared in their stories, the full-back and the former forward had a video call while the latter was being treated at the clinic.
In the screenshot of the conversation, Toloza is seen with a healing at the height of his forehead. Likewise, there is a slight swelling at the level of his left eye. The former player appears to have a good face.
“What a scare you gave me, my brother. May God bless you and protect you always! I love you very much. Soon you will be very well again. God has you for great things, I have told you,” Domínguez noted in his story.

Édison Toloza was born 39 years ago in Nariño. His professional career began at Deportivo Pereira, a team with which he signed in 2006. After his start in the ‘Matecaña’ team, the forward moved to Deportes Quindío, a team in which he stood out and earned merits to make the leap to Santa Fe. Then, he played for América de Cali and Millonarios.
After his performance on the ambassador team, Toloza went to play in Mexico, first in Morelia and then in Puebla. In 2013 he returned to Junior de Barranquilla, a team in which he remained until 2017. Afterwards, he went to China to play for Jiangsu Suning, returned to Colombia and played for DIM, Deportivo Pasto and Águilas Doradas.
In the first half of 2019, Toloza had a brief stint with Correcaminos, from Mexico. He later returned to Jaguares de Córdoba and finally joined Boca Juniors de Cali, the last club in which he played.
