For important reasons: “I don’t find drinking sprees that good as a competitive athlete. But also because the BBL playoffs are at that time. After the start of the season you can reach for higher goals.”
Grünloh announces a new season goal for Vechta: playoff race instead of relegation battle!
For him personally, such a long season is about gaining weight. He reveals: “I currently weigh 103, 104 kilos. But that is too little. If you look at the “big men” of the BBL, they weigh 110, 115 kilos. You have to be able to counter that and to do that you have to gain a few more kilos.” His goal: 108 to 109 kilos next year. So that at some point he can compete with the greats from the NBA.

Many experts see his path to the best league in the world already mapped out and compare him with Germany’s NBA legend Dirk Nowitzki (45).
But Grünloh doesn’t think much of it: “These are comparisons that you can’t really make yet. Dirk Nowitzki has simply achieved everything. From NBA title to NBA MVP. There’s still a lot missing for me. I hope that at some point it will be possible to compare yourself to him because he simply had a legendary career.”
