Portland Trail Blazers’ Robert Williams III to Miss 2023-24 Season Due to Knee Surgery

The Portland Trail Bazers center, Robert Williams III, will undergo surgery on his right knee that will put an end to his 2023-24 season, according to the journalist from ESPN Adrian Wojnarowski.

The interior, who suffered damage to his kneecap and ligaments in his knee during last Sunday’s loss to the Memphis Grizzlies, is expected to be fully recovered by the start of the 2024-25 season.

Williams III landed in Oregon as part of the deal that sent Jrue Holiday to the Boston Celtics in September. The center had been a commercial target for several teams that hoped to bid for his services before the February market closed. However, this new injury completely distorts the interest of these teams and the future of the player in the league, who recently turned 26 years old.

The center’s best season was 2021-22, in which he was included in the Defensive Quintets, while the Boston Celtics made it through the playoffs until reaching the NBA Finals. In his 61 starts he averaged 10.0 points, 9.0 rebounds and 2.2 blocks.
