Arrival of the quinté: 5 – 3 – 9 – 10 – 14
Before the event race, all eyes were on Jushua Tree (No. 14), some of whose supporters were present, adorned with caps in the color of the jacket of Jean-Michel Bazire’s resident. Neither the latter nor his protégé were able to give their supporters and/or bettors any hope of victory, especially since he left with hesitation. Long in the last third of the peloton, the favorite of the racers had to settle for fifth place in a Prix de Chenonceaux (Gr. III), won by Inexess Bleu (n° 5). The one who represents the same helmet as the champion Jag de Bellouet won without firing a shot. Led with confidence by Alexandre Abrivard, who describes him as a “phenomenon”, he was never really worried in the final phase despite the courage of Kagan (No. 3) and It’s a Dollarmaker (No. 9). “He’s a good horse that we left alone all summer in preparation for this winter. He can still move up in category even if the fact that he is a gelding will limit things,” reacted Laurent-Claude Abrivard, the winner’s mentor.
Preserved on the rope side, Josh Power (n° 10) made an encouraging comeback and was ahead of the aforementioned favorite, whose straight line did not go unnoticed.
