The Pittsburgh players tried some of the most famous sweets from the Aztec country.

In the NFL, there are approximately 20 players of Mexican roots, including active players, those on practice squads, injured players and free agents.

One of the most prominent is Fred Warner of the San Francisco 49ers, especially because of how he proudly tells that his mother Laura is Mexican, as well as that his father Fred is Panamanian. It doesn’t hurt that he is one of the defensive stars and also one of the leaders on the Bay team.

Although no league games will be played this year in Mexico due to renovations taking place at the Azteca Stadium, seven preseason games and five regular season games have already been played in its history.

In other words, the bond between the NFL and Mexico is close.

It is not surprising, then, that on this Day of the Dead 2023, many NFL teams — including the current champions Kansas City Chiefs— have joined with love and respect on their social networks to the ancient Mexican tradition that honors the memory of the dead. Let’s see the messages in their posts!
