Pınar Karşıyaka Defeated 80-65 by SIG Strasbourg in Basketball Champions League Group E

In the Basketball Champions League Group E, our representative Pınar Karşıyaka was defeated 80-65 by SIG Strasbourg on the road in France. Our representative, who could not score for a long time at the beginning of the match and lost by 17 points, could not avoid being defeated even though he reduced the difference afterwards. Karşıyaka, which had 2 wins in 3 matches in the group, lost the leadership with this score to its opponent, which made it 3 out of 3. The green-red team will host SIG Strasbourg in their 4th match in the group on Wednesday, November 29, at 20.30, with the aim of equalizing the number of wins in the last 16 races and taking the leadership again.

In Karşıyaka, Vice President İlker Ergüllü, Basketball Branch President Tamer Ustaoğlu and branch management also supported the team in the away game against France. Our country’s Consul General in Strasbourg, Bekir Sarp Erzi, did not leave Kaf-Kaf alone in the match played at Rhenus Sport Arena. Approximately 150 green-red fans who came to the match from Izmir, France and various European countries supported our representative. On the other hand, McCollum, who could not play in the last 3 matches in Karşıyaka due to his injury, returned to the court with this match.

Karşıyaka could only score a single point with Furkan’s free throw in the first 7 minutes of the match. In this episode, where our representative was stuck, the host went ahead with an 18-1 streak. Scoring 9 points in a row with Carey, McCollum and Hilliard, Kaf-Kaf started to narrow the gap. With McCollum’s last second three-pointer, the first period ended 25-17. At the beginning of the second period, our representative brought the score to 34-32 and reduced the difference to 2 points. After this minute, Strasbourg had a 12 to 2 streak and entered the locker room ahead of Karşıyaka by 10 points, 44-34. The third period ended 64-49, in which the green-reds’ efforts to narrow the gap again were inconclusive. Pınar Karşıyaka started the last period with Thomas and Furkan’s points and got hopeful again, but then came up empty from consecutive attacks and resigned to defeat: 80-65.
