Persib Bandung beat Madura United 1-0 in week 18 Liga 1 at the Gelora Bangkalan Stadium, Wednesday (1/11) evening WIB.

This result made Persib move up to second place in the League 1 standings with 34 points and Madura United remained in third place with 31 points. The Maung Bandung team is now only one point away from the top of the standings occupied by Borneo FC.

Persib got their first chance in this match in the 13th minute. However, the bait released by Ciro Alves could not be maximized by David da Silva.

Madura United, who wanted to get out of the negative period, tried to apply pressure. Salim Tuharea and his friends tried to cause trouble through movements from the flanks which did not produce results.

In the 36th minute, Persib got the best chance through Ciro Alves. The Brazilian striker fired a hard shot from inside the penalty box which was brilliantly blocked with his feet by Madura United goalkeeper, Satria Tama.

After that both teams could not score a goal. The score was goalless at the end of the first half.

Persib created two consecutive opportunities in the 61st minute. A speculative shot fired by Putu Gede which was not sticky was caught by Satria Tama and was allowed to vomit when it was hit by Ciro Alves but the shot did not meet the target.

Three minutes later it was David da Silva’s turn to get the opportunity. Unfortunately Da Silva’s shot from inside the penalty box was still too weak so it was easily tamed by Satria Tama.

Persib’s hard work to get the upper hand over Madura United bore fruit in the 85th minute. Substitute Ezra Walian’s free kick towards the penalty box was headed by Nick Kuipers who sent the ball towards the far post and into the Madura United goal.

Madura United had a golden opportunity to equalize in the last minute of injury time. However, Francisco Rivera’s free kick only hit the crossbar and allowed Persib to end the match with a 1-0 win.
