Pallacanestro Brescia Expands into Africa with Germani West Africa Partnership

It will not be surprising if in one of the next championship matches, or perhaps on the occasion of the next Italian Cup, a Senegal flag appears on the team shirt German. Pallacanestro Brescia is not changing either the championship or the continent and is not even denying the Winged Victory, but is broadening its horizons up to a territory substantially unexplored by Italian basketball. No one, until now, has ever actually set foot in Africa with the idea of building something and not just with that of taking young talents, especially physical and athletic ones, to bring to Italy.

The opening of German West Africanew headquarters of the San Zeno company in Dakar, suitable for export your business model in Senegal, it instead offered the perfect opportunity for the Ferrari family to start another far-sighted project. Which, started and operated on site by Andrea Ferrarihas in fact envisaged not only the creation of a new logistics hub, but also that of an Academy to train drivers, mechanics and logistics experts.

The word

«It was a natural consequence to immediately think about basketball too – explained the CEO of Germani West Africa -, and we chose to start with a social responsibility program promoted by Pallacanestro Brescia”. The project currently has a significant social impact in the city of Diass. «The objective will be to support the organization of events for boys and girls from the suburbs of Dakar – explained Graziella Bragaglio -, transmitting the values of conviviality and sharing, leading these young people to socialize through the discovery of the values of sport”.

Precisely for this reason, Pallacanestro Brescia has already earned the Let’s Construct Kindness in Sport award, established in 2022 by Silvia Sardi and won in its first edition by the Milan Foundation. Germani thus enters on tiptoe starting from a donation of sports material and from sponsorship of the local team. «The conditions in Senegal are very complex – added the club president -. Players, especially the younger ones, struggle to find material to play basketball. We will try to help as much as possible all those who want to approach this sport.” The future prospects, however, are quite interesting, with the possibility that theBrescia Basketball Academy create a branch in Senegal capable of becoming a technical and training exchange center.

Germani has thus sown the first seed of a far-sighted project that could prove successful in the medium to long term. Meanwhile, Dakar will be the first African city to host an Olympic event: the fourth edition of the Summer Youth Olympic Games in 2026. The Germani West Africa team will try to be there, perhaps with the children of the employees of the new branch.
