Osteoporosis: “The most important message is that the bone can be trained”

At least six million people in Germany live with a diagnosis of osteoporosis. The disease, in which the bones become porous and break easily, particularly affects older people. They can do something about it, younger people can take specific preventive measures.

Dr. Stephan Geisler is a professor of fitness and health at the IST University in Düsseldorf and a lecturer at the German Sport University in Cologne. In the interview he explains which sport is useful and important for osteoporosis and which is useless. And he points out the great opportunity for prevention.
