OM-OL: Lyon’s appeal studied on November 21

According to our information, the next meeting of the FFF appeals committee is scheduled for Tuesday, November 21 in the morning. That day, it will study the appeal made by OL (which was received by the Federation), furious that the LFP disciplinary committee did not sanction OM after the attack on its bus, the October 29, by Marseillais a few hundred meters from the Stade-Vélodrome, causing the serious injury of coach Fabio Grosso (he was very close to losing an eye) and his assistant Raffaele Longo. And above all that the League reschedules the meeting on December 6 in Marseille with the public.

The LFP disciplinary committee had decided not to sanction OM, because within its remit, it is interested in what happens in the stadium itself (lawn, stands, corridors, lounges, etc.), in its “immediate periphery” (entrance, access roads, etc.), but not to what takes place beyond this perimeter, which is the responsibility of the public authorities.

OL want to play on neutral ground

But it has not convinced the Lyon leaders, who feel that their status as victims is not respected. “We’re not going to stop there,” Vincent Ponsot, OL’s football director, warned last Friday. We owe it to our players and staff. What we suffered two years ago, the point withdrawn, the debate on the lost match, we do not want OM to suffer. But we want to be able to play football without being afraid or risking anything. We don’t want a sporting sanction, because the Marseille players have nothing to do with it. We want to play on neutral ground. »

The FFF appeals committee will therefore look into this burning issue on November 21, but should not communicate its decision until the next day, until it is written and transmitted to the clubs concerned.
