OM-OL incidents: Lille wants security guarantees before traveling to Marseille

What if other Ligue 1 teams were now afraid of going to Marseille? After the serious incidents during OM-OL and the impressive injury to the face of Lyon coach Fabio Grosso, the question of the safety of clubs during their travels to the Canebière raises questions. Lille, the first team to visit the Vélodrome after Olympico, is not calm before its match on Saturday (9 p.m.).

Proof of this is that the president of Losc, Olivier Létang, decided to send a letter to the prefect of Bouches-du-Rhône Frédérique Camilleri, with a copy, the Minister of Sports Amélie Oudéa-Castéra, to the Minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin, to the president of the LFP Vincent Labrune and to the president of OM Pablo Longoria. The boss of the Mastiffs would like to have guarantees and the “certainty that the physical integrity of our delegation and our supporters is completely assured”, according to information from The Team.

250 supporters expected

From there even to threaten the arrival of the northern club, and the holding of the match? “I am waiting for the measures that will be taken and the assurance of the protection of our delegation and our supporters before confirming our trip,” it is nevertheless written in this letter. The trip of 250 supporters is still planned for the moment. “I indicated that I wanted my team to travel, but I first wanted guarantees on the system put in place. (…) We are not going to leave with our eyes closed and tell ourselves that it could happen again,” added the Lille president in an interview, still for L’Equipe.

In terms of accounting, the 4th in the championship remains on three victories in a row in all competitions and travels to Marseille in the best conditions. Quite the opposite of the Marseille club which, after the cancellation of the clash against Lyon, has won only one of these last five Ligue 1 matches.
