Vertex Shizuoka’s Okada attacks in extra time

Vertex Shizuoka lost a hard-fought match that went into overtime at home, suffering their second straight loss. Second match against Koshigaya 83-89. They were unable to get a win against the top teams in the East region. It was a seesaw game with the score tied many times until the fourth quarter (Q). Just before the end of the fourth quarter at 73-75 with 4 seconds left, PG Yuzo Okada (27, from Mishima City) sank a two-point shot and sent the game to overtime. However, in the end, they gave up too many fouls and were pushed down 83-83, running out of steam.
The team was without two players, including center fielder Kenny Lawson Jr. (35), who was injured in the first game. With the lack of an offensive key, Okada “thought to aggressively target (the ring)” to fill the void. As a result, he led the way with a team-high 24 points, including two 3-pointers. Although he fell one step short of winning, he was able to compete evenly with a team aiming to win the league championship, and he looked back and said, “We played a good game.”
