ÖEHV team finishes Germany Cup with no points – sport.ORF.at

Austria’s national ice hockey team finished at the bottom of the Germany Cup in Landshut with no points. The Austrians had to admit defeat to Denmark 1:6 (0:2 0:2 1:2) in the final game on Sunday. Roger Bader’s team fell behind in the 3rd minute and only scored a consolation goal from David Maier (57th) at the end when the score was 0:6.

The Austrians were unable to match their strong performance against Germany the day before and conceded two goals in each third. Phillip Burggisser (3rd/PP), Christopher Frederiksen (13th), Mathias From (23rd), Patrick Russell (40th/PP), Oliver Larsen (42nd) and Luca Andersen (50th) scored the Danes to one clear victory.

“I’m dissatisfied with the first third, where we lost targets again which led to counter-attacks and the Danes were strong enough to take advantage of that. We were able to improve again as the game progressed and we were also very good in terms of fighting in the final third,” summed up team boss Roger Bader.
