The Los Angeles running back had a dream comeback after an injury absence

Week 12 belonged to the runners. Three of the most vocal players during the offseason debate about the position’s worth in today’s NFL were the backbone for their teams this Sunday, confirming what we already know: running backs are being unfairly underappreciated when it comes to measure their contributions with respect to their compensation.

But, it was another runner, a fairly unknown one, who took the spotlight on the twelfth day of the regular campaign.

Kyren Williams did it all for the, earning Colossus of the Week 12 honors.ESPN

He hadn’t appeared since Week 6 thanks to an ankle injury that landed him on injured reserve, but at least today, there was no rust in Williams’ return to action.

The Notre Dame product had 16 carries for 143 yards (8.9 yards per carry) with a touchdown and led the Rams with six receptions for 61 yards with two other touchdowns, to emerge as the best player of Week 12 of the NFL.

And, for fantasy football lovers, Williams achieved this day his fourth game with at least 20 points, to place him as the running back with the third most so far this season, despite having missed four games, according to to data from ESPN Stats & Information.

HONORABLE MENTIONS

Regardless of the result, two touchdown passes and two touchdown runs against an interception are enough, practically every week, to earn an appearance among the Honorable Mentions of our weekly list. Allen also led Buffalo with 81 yards on nine carries to put the Bills in position to beat the best team in the NFL, an opportunity that was wasted in overtime.

Josh Allen and four hits on the quarterback to further distance Jacksonville from the rest in the AFC South.

Forget for a moment that the Atlanta safety led his team this Sunday with 12 total tackles, seven of which were solo, in addition to having one pass defended. Look at his interception and return 92 yards — third longest in franchise history — all the way for the score, or his forced fumble against Taysom Hill at the end of the third quarter, like plays that definitively tipped the balance for the Falcons, now co-leaders of the NFC South.

As it seems inevitable week after week, there is more than one Texans player on our list this week. Today, the first is Collins, thanks to his seven receptions for 104 yards with a touchdown as the most reliable target in Houston’s passing game, leading the organization this Sunday with nine targeted passes. There were many of us who thought that the Texans would have the weakest squad in the league this season, but this club manages to squeeze so much out of each element that it is worthy of admiration.

After two consecutive weeks with Jaylen Warren among the best, it is Harris’ turn to return to the forefront thanks to his 15 carries for 99 yards (6.6 yards per carry) with a touchdown, to lead Pittsburgh’s lackluster victory. There was a change of offensive coordinator, but there was no — other than Harris — a great improvement in the level of the Steelers’ attack.

The league’s leading rusher last year has regained prominence after the change of head coach of the franchise, and today it was thanks to a statistical sheet of 20 carries for 110 yards with a touchdown, with a complement of four receptions for 15 yards, which elevates him enough to be mentioned in this space.

If you wanted a masterclass on how to play the safety position, the match between Saints and Falcons was a must this Sunday. Speaking of players who left their teams in a position to win, Mathieu twice gave possession to his team through interceptions, to go along with his four tackles, two passes defended and a hit on the quarterback. Then, we talked about how it is a team sport, and that not all clubs are always able to take advantage of the stellar individual performances of their squad.

The rookie sensation from Atlanta, who inexplicably does not always receive the opportunities he might deserve to determine the course of the games, was dispatched this Sunday with 16 carries for 91 yards (5.7 yards per carry) and a touchdown, to which he added three catches for 32 yards with another touchdown, making it clear that he deserves to be, at least, in the discussion for Offensive Rookie of the Year.

The Pats’ offense is usually a tearjerker, no matter who the opponent is, and today was no exception, leaving Stevenson aside. The Pats’ leading rusher carried the ball 21 times for 98 yards, including a touchdown, and caught the ball five times for 9 yards as the only bragging rights for New England on the day.

Nobody said there shouldn’t be a discussion regarding the Offensive Rookie of the Year award, even though the Texans quarterback seems to have the award bagged. Today, they were 26 of 36 for 304 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions through the air, which he complemented with six carries to lead Houston on the ground with one more touchdown, only to be inches away from a missed field goal by his team. to send the divisional duel against the Jags to extra time.

The Colts star has been slow to get into a rhythm this season, after a very public dispute with the organization during training camp and preseason. But, Taylor has not forgotten how to shine, and today he delighted us with 15 carries for 91 yards with two touchdowns in Indianapolis’ win at home that puts them above .500 in the winning rate for the year.
