NBA, Thomas Bryant’s entertaining account of LeBron James’ famous scoring record

Adversaries during the night (in the match between Heat and Lakers), teammates last year, Thomas Bryant and LeBron James share one of the most iconic moments in the history of the NBA: the action in which “King” James passed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and was became the best scorer in the history of the league. And Bryant himself, now a reserve center for the Miami Heat, told his funny (and amused) perspective of that historic moment, in the match last February 7 against the Oklahoma City Thunder. “I remember taking a look at the scoreboard and seeing that he was six points away from the record. There’s still time I thought, because I was trying to stay as focused on the game as possible,” says Bryant. However, he evidently wasn’t that focused, given that he hadn’t noticed that there weren’t six points missing for LeBron to surpass Jabbar, but only two. “I saw all the people in the audience take out their cell phones and I didn’t understand. A small opponent had ended up marking me [Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, ndr] and then, just like LeBron told me to do, I cut hard in the middle of the area. I’m there in post, I ask for the ball, but I don’t understand why everyone has their cell phones in their hands. Then I see LeBron go to the shot and I understand: ‘My God, this is the shot!’, and finally I realize.” The only one who didn’t notice it in an arena with over 19,000 people, all witnesses of history in their own way. Except one , Thomas Bryant: asking for the ball in the low post.
