NBA Ejections and Big Performances: A Roundup of Tuesday’s Action

SAN FRANCISCO – Draymond Green and Klay Thompson were part of a group of three players ejected in the first quarter of Tuesday’s game between the Golden State Warriors and the Minnesota Timberwolves in the group stage of the NBA tournament.

Only 100 seconds had passed in the duel when Jaden McDaniels had trouble with Thompson as the play unfolded in transition.

Thompson held McDaniels’ jersey while McDaniels waited to catch the ball. McDaniels then grabbed Thompson’s back, and the two rivals refused to let go, as the action moved to the other side of the floor.

An exchange of punches and pushes ensued, leading to McDaniels tearing Thompson’s jersey. The latter wanted to respond by trying to punch him.

It was then that players from both clubs joined the hostilities, and Green stretched his arm around the neck of center Rudy Gobert, taking him in a real “sleep hold”.

Some coaches sought to prevent Green from continuing his maneuver on Gobert, while others instead tried to stop the confrontation between McDaniels and Thompson.

After video review, McDaniels and Thompson each received two technical fouls, while Green was also ejected for a Type 2 flagrant foul.

According to ESPN Stats & Infothis is the first time in the last 25 NBA seasons that several players were ejected from a game before points were even scored.

This is the second time in this young start to the season that Green has been sent to the showers. He received two technical fouls last Saturday against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

“SGA” makes Spurs see all the colors

Canadian Shai Gilgeous-Alexander continued to impress on Tuesday, recording 28 points and five assists, helping the Oklahoma City Thunder dominate the San Antonio Spurs, 128-87, in the group stage of the tournament of the NBA.

San Antonio (3-8) continues to sink in the standings, with what constitutes a sixth consecutive defeat.

Gilgeous-Alexander was no slouch on the defensive end, far from it, as he had seven steals in the Thunder’s dominant victory. This is a new career high for “SGA”.

No. 2 OKC now has five straight games of 25 points or more, all accompanied by a minimum efficiency of 55%. This is the longest streak of its kind in the history of the dealership.

We were waiting for the rookie duel between Spurs phenomenon Victor Wembanyama and Thunder giant Chet Holmgren.

The two young stars were, however, discreet, especially in the case of “Wemby”, limited to eight points after an evening of 4 for 15 shooting.

The first overall pick in the last NBA draft grabbed 14 rebounds, but committed five turnovers in the game.

Wembanyama posted his worst total since his NBA debut on October 25.

Montrealer Luguentz Dort obtained six points in OKC’s victory (7-4).

In the lead until halftime, the Spurs sank during the third quarter, weighed down as often by their clumsiness with 24 ball losses in total (15 for OKC).

The Spurs, the youngest team in the championship this season, were deprived of two important players due to injury on Tuesday, Keldon Johnson and Tre Jones. They host Sacramento on Friday for their next game.
