The Navarrese judokas Ariane Toro y Born in Ekisointogether with the technician Jose Toroare already in Montpellier to participate in the Absolute European Championship which will be held from this Friday, November 3rd until Sunday the 5th.
Both Toro and Ekisoain, summoned by the Royal Spanish Judo Federation, will compete starting at 10:00 a.m. at the Sud de France Arena. Toro will do so in the -52 kg category, winning the first round and facing the Italian judoka in the second. Odette Giuffrida, which was seventh at the 2022 European Championships held in Sofia. It currently occupies sixth place in the senior world ranking. Ekisoain will compete in the -57 kg category and will fight in the first round against Muna Dahoukthe IJF Refugee Team.
Toro and Ekisoain are part of the 17 judokas that currently make up the national team of this modality. Both will seek to give their best in this European event.
Since the creation of this championship in 1951, Spain has won a total of 27 gold medals, 31 silver medals and 69 bronze medals. It is the eighth country with the best record in a table led by France and seconded by Russia. Since 1987, the men’s and women’s competitions have been held at the same time.
