It’s no secret that Zach LaVine and the Bulls seem destined for divorce. But while the Miami Heat was one of the franchises that could potentially position itself on the file, the Florida franchise would not be interested in the back of the Bulls.
The Heat have missed out on several stars in recent months, including Damian Lillard. But that doesn’t mean Miami will jump on any opportunity.
According to Barry Jackson of Miami HeraldPat Riley and his henchmen intend to ignore a potential transfer of Zach LaVine, whose future in Chicago is dotted.

One of the reasons for this is necessarily LaVine’s big contract. The Chicago fullback is making more than $40 million this season and still has four years of contract (with the current season) at 180 million greenbacks, with a very large player option in the last year (49 million). Enough to cool down a Miami franchise which already has its books full at the moment, especially when we take into account the injury history that Zach LaVine has.
The presence of Tyler Herro, who also plays guard and has similar stats to LaVine this season, also explains why Miami is not hot on Zach. The Heat does not see the point in replacing the first – a pure in-house product – with the second knowing that there is still a difference in salary which amounts to 15 million per season. Not nothing ! And even if Miami were to recover LaVine without releasing Herro to the Bulls, it would cause a traffic jam on the floor and big bills that would limit the flexibility of the franchise.
In short, despite his certain scoring and finishing qualities, Zach LaVine does not represent the profile for which Pat Riley seems ready to make big maneuvers. Next!
