Kevin Trapp from Eintracht Frankfurt unhappy during the international soccer match

The unexpected appearance against Turkey doesn’t help Kevin Trapp in the fight for the place in the German goal. Now national coach Nagelsmann could take a look at one of his competitors in Vienna.

It wasn’t entirely clear what Kevin Trapp was talking about. About the penalty that ultimately decided the game in the 71st minute, in which he put his left hand on the ball shot by Sari, but didn’t put enough force behind it. Or about the national soccer team’s 2:3 defeat against Turkey as such. “I’m really annoyed about it,” said the Frankfurt Eintracht goalkeeper when he was one of very few national players to stop in front of the microphones at an advanced hour. One thing is certain: Trapp will not have fond memories of his eighth international match.

It certainly wasn’t a game that a goalkeeper loves. At first it looked for a while in the Berlin Olympic Stadium on Saturday evening as if Trapp would remain largely unemployed. After the early lead through Kai Havertz in the 5th minute, the German team created a lot of activity in the opposing half, when the pressure on the Turkish builders was so high that there was not much movement towards the German goal.
