Kelly Oubre Jr.’s Return to the 76ers: An Update

Kelly Oubre Jr.’s absence is coming to an end. The forward has been out for the last two weeks in Philadelphia after being run over in the center of the city; as he himself told the police officers and health services who treated him. Now, recovered while waiting for him to finish healing a fractured rib, he has already returned to training.

That’s how it is. Although he is not yet ready to take the field and play an official game, Oubre Jr. is recovered enough to exercise and begin to get in shape. The 76ers have not set a date for his return, but they have communicated that in a week (more or less) he will be evaluated again.

Regarding when we will see him again on the hardwood, his coach, Nick Nurse, explains that everything will depend on how he responds to training and, above all, to contact during training.

«Yes, it is a possibility that he will return next week, but I think we are still at a stage where we are not sure how he will handle the contact. I think that will be decisive. If he can handle that – it was the first time like that – I think we are close to having him in a week. If he doesn’t, then we will wait a few more days,” explains the head coach.

As we said, the forward explained that his injuries occurred due to an accident on November 11. However, Philadelphia police have explained that so far they have not been able to recover any video of the incident, so they are continuing to investigate.
