In the summer of 2023, Harry Kane went to Bayern Munich for over EUR 100 million. This is the most expensive transaction in the history of the German team, which quickly began to pay off. The Englishman acclimatized to the new team and started scoring goals like inspired. So far, he has scored hat-tricks in three games: against VfL Bochum, SV Darmstadt 98 and Borussia Dortmund. That day, Bayern played away against 1. FC Koeln. The undisputed favorites were the guests. They were second in the table, while their rivals were in penultimate place, i.e. 17th. And this difference was also visible on the pitch, although the first dangerous situation was created by the hosts. Already in the 10th minute, Jan Thielmann forced Manuel Neuer to intervene.
Later, however, Bayern took control of the match. He appeared in the opponents’ penalty area more often, which brought results in the 20th minute. It was then that Kane was on the scoreboard once again this season. The Englishman was in the right place at the right time – that’s how the situation can be briefly described.
It all started with a mistake in FC Koeln’s offensive action. One of the players lost the ball, to which Tuchel’s players immediately reacted and started a counterattack. Leroy Sane made a perfect pass on the left side to Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting. He confused the defender and then took a strong shot at the goal.
However, the ball was knocked out by one of Koeln’s players who was on the goal line. She returned to the penalty area again and landed perfectly at Kane’s feet. The Englishman had no choice but to put it into the net with a simple shot. And so he did.
In the following minutes, Choupo-Moting, Sane and Kingsley Coman had great opportunities, but were unlucky. Thus, the first half ended with Bayern leading by one goal. And although in the second part of the clash the Bavarians were still the dominant side, they were shockingly ineffective. They fired nine shots, but all of them missed.

Around the 80th minute, Coman had another great opportunity, but his header hit the crossbar. Thus, Bayern won 1-0 and advanced to first place with 32 points. Second place Bayer Leverkusen loses a point, but also has one match less played. Therefore, changes may occur in the table. However, nothing changes the fact that thanks to this victory, Bayern still remained undefeated in the Bundesliga. In turn, for Koeln it was the eighth match lost – thus falling to last place.
In the next league match, Bayern will face Union Berlin. The clash is scheduled for Saturday, December 2. Earlier, on Wednesday, November 29, Kamil Grabara will play in the 5th round of the Champions League group stage against FC Copenhagen.
