Judo: A slightly different training was on the program at the Judo Club Holzwickede yesterday: instead of judo suits and tatami, jumping power and aerial acrobatics were required. As part of the NRW State Sports Association’s exercise offensive, the Judo Club invited its young members to a special experience at the Superfly Dortmund. Between 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. there was an exuberant atmosphere when 58 children and young people between the ages of 6 and 16 took to the trampoline facility.
Thanks to the support of the State Sports Association of North Rhine-Westphalia, the club was able to realize this excursion and thus offer the children an extraordinary change from their usual training. “It’s great that we can offer the children additional opportunities for exercise with such initiatives,” explained the chairman of the judo club, “and the kids’ enthusiasm shows us that we are on the right track.”
The event was a total success. The children not only had fun letting off steam on the trampolines, but also learned how to use body control in the air, which is important for judo. “Judo is more than just a martial art, it is also a school of body control and discipline,” said a coach at the club. “On the trampolines the children can experience these skills in a completely new context.”
The Superfly team was well prepared for the needs of the young athletes and ensured that all participants could spend their time on the trampolines safely and with a lot of fun. “The children could hardly be stopped,” laughed a carer. “Some even impressed the coaches with their flips and tricks.”
The visit to Superfly was more than just an excursion, it was proof that sport and fun can go hand in hand and that varied exercise has a permanent place in children’s hearts. The Judo Club Holzwickede would like to thank the State Sports Association of North Rhine-Westphalia for the financial support that makes such important experiences possible and looks forward to being able to offer similar activities in the future.
