Jiuta Wainiqolo extends two years with Toulon

This is a good move for the RCT. As indicated by L’Équipe last August, Fijian international winger Jiuta Wainiqolo has extended his contract with Toulon until 2025-2026, the club announced this Thursday evening in a press release.

Arriving in 2021 on the edge of the harbor after winning the Olympic title in Tokyo with the Flying Fijians in rugby sevens, the supersonic winger showed all his qualities at XV, showing himself to be very efficient with the RCT, which totaled 100 points ( 20 tries) in 52 matches.

Last season in particular, he was one of the best players in the Var squad, finishing the Top 14 season with eight tries and appearing among the players who beat the most defenders. However, the competition will be tough for the Fijdian, while the club has notably recruited the New Zealander Leicester Fainga’anuku and still plans to rely on the French Gabin Villière or Gaël Dréan.

Also a Fijian international at XV, he has 9 selections, including several this year during the World Cup in France, which he was unable to play in full due to injury. He has since returned to competition with Toulon, entering the match last Sunday during the Varois’ big victory (41-7) against Oyonnax for the resumption of the Top 14.
