Bildstein/Hussl finish the 49er European Championships in fourth place

Benjamin Bildstein and David Hussl took fourth place in the 49er European Sailing Championships ahead of La Grande-Motte. They came third in the final medal race on Sunday, but they were no longer able to make it onto the podium in the overall classification. They probably have a better chance of claiming the Olympic quota place than eighth-placed Keanu Prettner/Jakob Flachberger.

Helmsman Bildstein spoke of a “conciliatory end” to the week. It has been proven that you can sail well in all wind conditions. “Of course it’s a shame that we missed out on the medal and that everything didn’t work out the way we imagined.”

Hussl explained that they are now looking forward to the association’s decision as to which team will be nominated for the summer games. “We have done our part and hope that we will be allowed to drive.” The title went to the Brits James Peters/Fynn Sterritt.

Vadlau/Mähr eighth in the European Championship before Cannes

At the 470cc European Championships in Cannes, Spaniards Jordi Xammar/Nora Brugman, Lara Vadlau/Lukas Mähr finished eighth. Vadlau then reported on a “super difficult” week. However, the constant light wind conditions were important for the team as this was still their major weakness.

“But we have now been able to gather very good findings.” The Olympic material is now being brought to top condition in Neusiedl and then brought to Marseille. The weaknesses in the Olympic area should be worked on, added Vorschoter Mähr.
