Jeffrey Hoogland breaks world track kilometer record

Nine years, almost ten. This is the time that the standing start track kilometer world record set by François Pervis on December 9, 2013 will have held. Olympic team sprint champion in Tokyo in 2020, and individual silver medalist, the Dutchman Jeffrey Hoogland has dethroned the Frenchman by a little less than a second on Tuesday, on the same velodrome in Aguascalientes (Mexico). The new reference mark: 55 seconds and 433 thousandths.

This record further consolidates the Dutchman’s domination of world track cycling: in August, he won two new world champion titles in Glasgow, one in individual (the kilometer, his fourth after 2018, 2021 and 2022) and one by teams (speed, his fifth).
