«It’s true, the agreement with Pallacanestro Varese was signed in March. But the penalty that came later was a hitch that we had to verify in Australia. So we are still working with the company.”
This is how Giovanni Caniglia, CEO of Pelligra Italia Holding, responds to a specific question, in Varese to participate in the conference organized by the AIS-Australian Institute of Sport on business and sport. Not on just any day, because it arrives the day after Pallacanestro Varese formalized the formal notice to comply with the group he represented.
Fifteen days: this is the deadline within which Pelligra Italia will have to pay the first million – originally scheduled no later than October 31st – to enter the shares of the pre-Alpine club and avoid incurring a complete breakdown in relations and a possible request for compensation damage.
Caniglia, however, does not stop at the timing but speaks in general: «Relations with the company are very good – he says – Now we have become one of its major sponsors as promised (the reference is to the sponsorship agreement, honored last week with 140 days late ed.) and behind the scenes we are working to do what you all know (the acquisition of company shares ed.)”.
When asked about the deadline of 31 October he responds as follows – «The penalty was a hitch that we had to verify, so we are still working with Pallacanestro Varese» – bringing things up in a rather surprising way and without having, it would seem, ever openly explained to the other party, facts which ended on 6 June with the ruling of the Federal Court of Appeal of the FIP and the renunciation of further appeals by the pre-Alpine association, which has also always shared every move with the future, possible owners.
Finally, a joke about the Franco Ossola stadium, a few days after the presentation of the Aurora Stadium redevelopment project: «We too will present our project which – as we have already declared – will consist of a sports citadel, based on sustainability.
