FC Bayern Munich has a real center forward again: Harry Kane delivers consistently – and is settling in better and better in Germany.

Munich – Harry Kane has arrived. The exceptional striker left his homeland in the summer and is playing for a club outside England for the first time in his career. And at his new club, FC Bayern Munich, he is making a huge impact: he has scored 19 times in 15 games so far (as of November 11th, 9:30 a.m.), and he has already scored three hat-tricks in the Bundesliga. Most recently, two in a row against Darmstadt and Dortmund.

Harry Kane and FC Bayern: Lederhosen, Oktoberfest and the three fingers

Kane and Germany – so that fits. The 30-year-old still lives in a luxury hotel with his family because the search for a house in the Bavarian capital has not yet been successful. But: The captain of the English national team has already gotten to know the culture, traditions and customs. As he repeatedly emphasized at the beginning of his time at Bayern, this was one of the things Kane was looking forward to most after his move.

The London native cut a good figure at FC Bayern’s Lederhosen shoot and at Oktoberfest. And now he also seems to have adopted a habit that seems to be typically German: the way of showing the number three with his fingers.

Kane adopts a typical German habit: the cheering image speaks volumes

Attentive observers noticed it immediately after his third goal in the classic against BVB, and it was an immediate topic on social media for many fans: After his goal to make it 4-0, Kane showed a three with his fingers: his thumb, index finger and middle finger were there stretched out. Germans abroad are often ridiculed for this gesture.

Elsewhere you often cannot understand the somewhat awkward finger position. In English-speaking countries it is customary to indicate the three with the index finger, middle finger and ring finger. The thumb and little finger are left out and touch each other.

Harry Kane shows a “German three”: New Bayern striker settles in in Germany

On the island they will probably have been a little annoyed when Harry Kane, their national team skipper, suddenly shows them a three like a non-Englishman or (even worse?) like a German. After all, before the birth of Kane’s fourth child, the tabloid press was afraid that it might be born in Munich in the summer.

Dark scenarios were drawn – from an English perspective – that Kane junior could one day receive German citizenship and then (in a distant and very hypothetical future) shoot down the Three Lions with the DFB team. Oh dear!

The Kane family continues to look for a house in Munich

This fear was ultimately unfounded. Kane’s wife Katie temporarily returned to London and gave birth to son Henry Edward on August 20th. The bad news from an English perspective: Kane’s contract with FC Bayern is valid until June 2027. And if dad continues to play football so well, he will score many more hat tricks in the Bundesliga. The result: Henry Edward Kane could soon also show the “German three”. (mind)
