Gudas Emerges as a Shooting Force for the Ducks in the NHL

Considering his hair, the 33-year-old defender is more of a holiday shooter. He scored a total of 34 goals in 692 games in the NHL. So far, he’s scored once for the Ducks in a win in Boston, but that was more of a Hampus Lindholm patriot.

“You’re not the only one telling me to shoot more. I hear that from my dad quite often,” said Gudas to Sport.cz a few years ago. His maximum is six goals for Philadelphia from the 2016/17 season, he scored twice in the Panthers jersey last year. However, he was already the hardest shooter in the competition last season, when he shot at a speed of 163.69 km/h.

In the fourth minute of the third period of Wednesday’s game, Gudas leaned hard on the puck from the goalpost, but Vejmelka snapped the concrete in time. However, the action continued, seven seconds later the Czech goalkeeper of the visitors was not enough to stop the rookie Leo Carlsson. The Ducks tied the game at 3-3 and eventually won overtime with Troy Terry’s third goal.

Gudas replaced Philadelphia defenseman Travis Sanheim at the top of the ranking, who reached a speed of 163.33 km/h on October 19 against the Oilers. Sixth in the table is another Czech Jan Rutta from San Jose – 161.11 km/h.

The NHL All-Star Game record was set by former Boston captain Zdeno Chára, who shot at a speed of 175.1 km/h in 2012. However, in 2020, he was surpassed at the AHL All-Star Game by Czech forward Martin Frk, who recorded a performance of 175.7 km/h.

But what is it against the KHL… Defender of Chelyabinsk Alexander Ryazantsev recorded a performance of 183.67 km/h!
