Germany’s Setback in European Championship Host Test Clash

European Championship hosts Germany have to accept a setback shortly before the test clash against the ÖFB national team.

In front of a sold-out crowd in the Berlin Olympic Stadium, the DFB team and national coach Julian Nagelsmann suffered a 2-3 defeat against Turkey.

After just five minutes, Nagelsmann was able to clench his fist for the first time and Arsenal professional Kai Havertz pushed in to give Germany the lead. However, after a little more than half an hour of German control of the game, the Turks, trained by Vincenzo Montella, took control of the action and got a deserved equalizer through Kadioglu (38th).

Controversial winning goal for Türkiye

Shortly before the break, ex-Bayern talent Kenan Yildiz (45th + 2) had his big moment, appearing in the penalty area and being able to shoot the ball into the corner without any pressure.

As a result, Germany managed to counterattack promptly, Niclas Füllkrug completed a remarkable counterattack in a dry manner (49th). In the 71st minute, Yusuf Sari, who had recently been substituted, gave the Turks the lead again from the spot after Kai Havertz committed a controversial handball.

Next Tuesday, Germany will be guests at Vienna’s Ernst Happel Stadium in a friendly kick-off with Austria (from 8:45 p.m. in the LIVE ticker>>>).
