Due to injury problems, Lena Djeriou, Anna Monta Olek and Losseni Kone cannot take part in the U23 European Championships at short notice.
Anna Monta Olek broke her right ring finger during training. This means that the European Championships are not possible for them and their dream of precious metal cannot be fulfilled. Eva Ronja Buddenkotte joins the team for them in the -78 kg class. The 19-year-old won the German Junior Championship title for the second time this year and won gold in Prague and bronze in Berlin at the European Junior Cups. She came fifth at both the Junior European Championships and the World Championships.
Chiara Serra replaces Lena Djeriou in the -52 kg class. The 22-year-old won silver twice at the Women’s European Open this year.
Losseni Kone cannot compete in the men’s heavyweight division. Yvo Witassek comes into the team to replace him. This year he asserted himself with the bronze medal at the German Men’s Championships and internationally in Sarajevo with silver at the European Cup. As a Potsdamer, it is a special situation for him to start at the European Championships in his hometown.
