Long-time tennis star David Nalbandian is facing trial. As “Bild” reports, the now 41-year-old is said to have secretly filmed his ex-girlfriend Araceli Torrado in her apartment with a hidden camera. The two were in a relationship from September 2022 to June 2023.
After the 29-year-old and the athlete separated, Nalbandian is said to have installed the camera in the apartment in Palermo, Italy. The action was noticed thanks to Torrado’s brother. The newspaper writes that he noticed “a strange glow behind a ventilation shaft.” That’s where the camera was.
“He could see me naked”
“The horror was indescribable: not only was he watching me, but he could also see me naked,” Torrado is quoted as saying in the indictment. The influencer is said to have reported Nalbandian directly. Although the charges were initially dropped, Torrado and her lawyers brought audio recordings and messages from her former partner to light. In it he confesses to the crime. “Do you want me to be honest? Yes, I set up the camera. But I couldn’t see anything because there were internet problems,” he is said to have said, among other things, in a voice message. He now faces allegations of stalking and sexual harassment.
In the 2000s, Nalbandian was one of the best tennis players in the world. The Argentine even moved up to third place in the world rankings in March 2006 and won the Masters Cup in Shanghai in 2005.
