Former NFL Player DJ Hayden Dies in Tragic Car Accident

The former player of the National Football League (NFL) DJ Hayden, died early Saturday morning at the age of 33 in a traffic accident in Houston (Texas, United States). Along with him, there were six other passengers in the car who also lost their lives. The car ran a red light and collided with another vehicle.

According to the Police Department Houston, four people died instantly and the other two died later, after being taken to the hospital. Agents indicated that five men, including former University of Houston players Ralph Oragwu and Zach McMillian, the latter being Hayden’s teammate, and a woman were among the fatalities.

Hayden developed his sporting career in teams such as Las Vegas Raiders, Detroit Lions, Jacksonville Jaguars and Washington Commanders, and was honored twice by All-Conference USA. More than a decade ago he already made headlines in the main American media due to a tear in his heart due to colliding with another teammate while they were playing. He recovered after undergoing emergency surgery and was released from the hospital a week later and was drafted by the then-Oakland Raiders.

«Courage, perseverance and dedication of DJ towards his teammates will be fondly remembered by all who knew him,” the Raiders, who now play in Las Vegas, said in a statement. “The prayers of all Raider Nation are with DJ’s loved ones at this time.”
