Football: Bayern with anger against Dortmund

Although Bayern Munich had to deal with the bitter cup loss over the past three days, that didn’t change the series champions’ self-image. “We have no resignation at all. We have a great series in the Bundesliga and a team that we completely trust. We’re going to Dortmund to win. A defeat in the DFB Cup speaks against FC Bayern’s basic law. We wanted to avoid it with all our might. Now it’s time to react. We have enough quality, form and spirit,” said coach Thomas Tuchel.

However, Tuchel has some personnel concerns before the duel between the two unbeaten clubs. He has to replace the injured Matthijs de Ligt and the suspended Joshua Kimmich. It is still unclear whether Dayot Upamecano and Leon Goretzka will be fit for the game. Tuchel hopes Noussair Mazraoui is ready to play so Konrad Laimer can be deployed in the center.

Dortmund welcomes Bayern to the Bundesliga classic

In the German Bundesliga there will be a classic between Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich on Saturday. The German record champions travel to Dortmund with anger in their stomachs after the cup disgrace.

Dortmund is burning for a home win

The results of the last few games certainly speak for Bayern. The Munich team recently had BVB under control; they have not lost any of the last ten competitive duels and won nine of them. Dortmund, on the other hand, is longing for a sense of achievement five years after their last Bundesliga home win against their eternal title rivals. “We obviously want to use every opportunity to beat Bayern Munich in a direct duel – it’s been a little longer at home now. It’s time again,” said sports director Sebastian Kehl.

According to coach Edin Terzic, Bayern’s cup exit will have no impact on their league success. “I have rarely seen two bad Bayern games in a row. “Their senses are always heightened against us, especially now there’s probably a little bit of anger,” said the Dortmund coach.

“These games, similar to the Champions League games, are decided by little things. We know that we also have to bring some form of effectiveness into our game,” said Terzic. Defender Nico Schlotterbeck made a similar statement: “Bayern always want to win and feel like they come every week with anger in their stomachs, the way they play.”

Sabitzer meets old acquaintances

For ÖFB team player Marcel Sabitzer, who has been with Dortmund since this season, it will be a reunion with old friends. The midfielder moved from Leipzig to Munich in the summer of 2021, but did not become a regular at Bayern and was loaned out to Manchester United last spring. In July, Dortmund transferred a rumored 15 million euros for the Styrian to Bayern, against whom Sabitzer is now playing in a BVB jersey for the first time. In midfield he will probably have one or two duels with his ÖFB teammate Laimer.

Dortmund are level on points with VfB Stuttgart in fourth place, two points behind second-placed Bayern and four points behind Bayer Leverkusen. The league leaders will be visiting TSG Hoffenheim on Saturday, while Stuttgart will conclude the tenth round on Sunday evening with a game against newly promoted Heidenheim.
