The FISIP UI Open Badminton Championship 2023 (FOBC) tournament has been completed, this tournament will run for six days starting from 21 – 26 November 2023 at Balairung UI, with students of all ages starting from elementary school, middle school, high school, universities throughout Indonesia and also the University of Indonesia Academic Community (Lecturers, Education Staff and Students).
FISIP UI Open 2023 was attended by more than 400 participants divided into 28 individual categories and 2 team categories. The participants came from Jabodetabek, Central Java, East Java and South Sulawesi.
Prof. Dr. Semiarto Aji Purwanto, Dean of FISIP UI, thanked the parties who had been involved in holding this tournament, “Thank you very much for the support from various parties such as PBSI and KONI Depok, thank you to the sponsors and media partners who have helped run this event smoothly and also thank you to the athletes who have participated.”
He said, “through this sports tournament the athletes who participate can strengthen physically and mentally as humans. “One of the ways FISIP is sports-oriented is to make sports a culture on campus.”
In the future, Prof. “Aji hopes that the FISIP UI Open will have better quality and wider coverage. I hope that the FISIP UI Open can be included in the PBSI agenda to become a national badminton competition.”
FISIP UI Open is a form of FISIP UI’s dedication to advancing the sport of badminton in the country with the main aim of strengthening the role of sport in the academic environment. This activity is important in confirming the position of sport to support academic development. This year’s FISIP UI Open reflects the tagline “YOUNG, DIFFERENT, EXERCISE.”
Dr. Agung Firman Sampurna, General Chair of PBSI, thanked FISIP UI for organizing the FISIP UI Open tournament. He said that activities like this were extraordinarily positive and the theme was conveyed well, “Young, Different and Sporting”. “FISIP not only prioritizes education but also sports, this marks an important moment and gives meaning in the world of sports, especially badminton. “Sports are an important part of education because of the speed in thinking, strategy and toughness that results from sports not only from the muscles but also the mind,” said Agung.
The closing of the 2023 FISIP UI Open event was attended by Prof. Dr. Semiarto Aji Purwanto (Dean of FISIP UI), Prof. Dr. Bambang Shergi Laksmono (Chair of the FISIP UI Professorial Council and also the initiator of FOBC), Dr. Agung Firman Sampurna (General Chairman of PBSI), Heri Supriatna (Chairman of KONI Depok), Daryadi (General Secretary of PBSI Depok), Agustinus Darmo (Vice President of BCA Bank), Dwi Ardhanariswari Sundrijo, Ph.D (Deputy Dean for Resources, Ventura, and General Administration).
