Feyenoord must increasingly fear a striker’s departure. According to Jaime Lozano, the national coach of Mexico, the attacker is ready for the next step in his career.
According to Lozano, a departure may be the best solution for the Feyenoord attacker, who has a lot of future in the Mexico national team – despite the fact that he does not always play yet. “Ultimately, I think Santi can become the striker of the future in this selection. I also think he is ready for the step to a better competition,” said Lozano.

And so Feyenoord must fear that Giménez will leave, because this will give him more claim to playing time with the Mexico national team and participation in a final tournament. Lozano: “It would be good for him to take a step up. The Eredivisie is a good level, but I think he has proven that he can reach a higher level in Europe.”
Giménez is one of and perhaps the biggest standout in the Eredivisie this season. The centre-forward has already scored thirteen times. He also recently showed his best side in the Champions League by striking twice in the home match against SS Lazio. But in the past two league matches he has not looked quite himself. When he visited FC Twente he barely featured in the play, in the away match against RKC Waalwijk he failed from the spot and against AZ he was substituted prematurely.
