End of series for the Boston Celtics, beaten by the Charlotte Hornets

Miles Bridges didn’t have it all on Monday night for his Charlotte Hornets. Far from there. The winger, starting for the first time this season since his return from suspension (10 matches after a blank season following his conviction for domestic violence), was very clumsy at home, against the Boston Celtics (3 on 13 shooting). But he scored the most important basket of the evening, 6”6 from the end of overtime snatched a few minutes earlier by his teammate LaMelo Ball (36 points at 15 of 27, 9 rebounds, 8 assists), three points (119-116, 45th).

Untenable in this match, which he dominated accountingly (45 points), the C’s winger Jayson Tatum nevertheless obtained the possibility of playing a second overtime by causing a fault from Gordon Hayward (20 points) at three points just before the buzzer, but the winger missed his third attempt. What he had difficulty explaining after the game: “Yes I was surprised, I felt it, but it just didn’t sink in. » Even Bridges seemed incredulous at this failure, which had thus transformed him into the hero of the evening: “I couldn’t believe he missed that last throw, but we got the victory and that’s it what matters. »

We can speak of an achievement for Charlotte, only thirteenth in the Eastern Conference (4v-9l) and who had lost their five previous matches. In the same way, it was a series that ended for Boston, which remained on six victories. It should be noted, on the visitors’ side, their major clumsiness with free throws (18/28), inevitably problematic in such a close match.

Milwaukee attacks Washington

In terms of success, the Milwaukee Bucks, traveling to Washington, were not the most to complain about: 58.8% for the collective, and an ultra-efficient outing for Giannis Antetokounmpo (42 points at 20 out of 23, 13 rebounds, 8 passes). However, it took all that to overcome Wizards who were just as skillful (55 out of 99, 55.6%) and eye-catching although ultra-dominated on the rebound (26 shots against 55). What the care taken with the ball (only 4 balls lost!) more than compensated. In vain, however.

With this fifth victory in a row, Milwaukee takes the opportunity to return to a success for Boston (10v-4d), in third place since Philadelphia (10v-3d) is interspersed. Enough to make the clash scheduled for Wednesday evening between Celtics and Bucks extremely tasty.
