A couple of months ago the NBA fined Rudy Gobert $100,000 for making the money gesture at referees and then insinuating that their decisions were affected by sports betting. Today the League has sanctioned the French center again for something similar. This time it was $75,000 for repeating said gesture.
The scene took place during the fourth game between Denver and Minnesota, where the interior finished the game with foul trouble. “An inappropriate and unprofessional gesture that questions the integrity of the competition and its referees,” reads the official statement. After the first two games marked by permissive contact, in the third both Jaden McDaniels and himself accumulated four fouls. The amount is due to repetition.
