Dutch Coach Ronald Koeman Reveals Secret International Match Against Germany

He probably didn’t think about it for a moment…

Koeman: “I don’t know if I’m allowed to say this, but I think the away game against Germany is certain. We will play the other game at home.”

And then he realizes: “Was that already known? Or have I just spilled the beans?”

So far the public only knew that the DFB was planning two real clashes: probably in Lyon with France and against Holland.

However, the game against our neighbors has not yet been finalized because until the Dutch’s 1-0 win against Ireland on Saturday (November 18th) it was not yet clear whether Holland would qualify directly for the European Championships or still be there the play-offs must.

Furthermore, the outcome of the game depended on whether our neighbor might be drawn into the German European Championship group. This is still possible, but no longer seems relevant.

These are Germany’s possible group opponents at the European Championships (Germany is placed in Pot 1/Group A as hosts):

Pot 2: Hungary, Turkey, Denmark, Albania, Romania, Austria

Pot 3: Scotland, Netherlands, Serbia, Croatia, Italy, Slovenia

Pot 4: Slovakia, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Playoff A, Playoff B, Playoff C

Holland plays at Gibraltar on Tuesday evening (8:45 p.m.). However, the game is no longer important as Koeman’s team is three points ahead of third-placed Greece.

Since Holland won the direct comparison against the 2004 European champions, Bond coach Koeman’s team could no longer slip to third place even in the very unlikely event of a defeat at Gibraltar (zero points, 0:35 goals). Second place is enough for the European Championship qualification.

So nothing stands in the way of an international match for Holland in Germany – Koeman announces the DFB test ahead of time!
