Dominican Republic shines in taekwondo at Central American and Caribbean School Games

CARACAS.- Dominican Wilfrido De la Cruz won the third gold for the Dominican Republic in taekwondo combat in the -55 kg category, in the continuation of the VI Central American and Caribbean School Games Venezuela 2023.

When speaking with the press, the coach of the Dominican team, Enmanuel Mateo, considered the participation fruitful, especially because of the gold achieved by De la Cruz.

“We thank the Ministry of Sports and Recreation for the support it has been giving so that these young people can develop for the future, since they are promising and starting next year they will enter the new sports cycle,” said Mateo.

Judo

The mixed judo team of the Dominican Republic won a silver medal, after losing to the representation of Venezuela, on the final day of the tournament held at the headquarters of the United Nations Park in El Paraíso.

In a very close final that concluded with an extra match, Venezuela took the gold medal corresponding to the team event by beating the Dominican team 4-3.
