Holder of a Master’s degree in sports journalism, I fell in love with tennis since childhood and have always loved reading the great stories of this sport. Today, I want to tell them about them, take full advantage of my passion and be as close as possible to the aces of the circuit.

Having just ended the year with a defeat in the Davis Cup, Novak Djokovic can finally take advantage of the holidays to rest and think about what’s next. The Serbian, who perhaps had the best season of his career, recently spoke about the return to competition of his biggest rival, Rafael Nadal. Now the greatest player of all time, he has nothing left to prove. But he still wants to play one last duel against the Spaniard.

Novak Djokovic is not ready to end his career. Even though he found Jannik Sinner an opponent worthy of him at the end of the season, the Serbian is still above everyone in the long term. The world number 1 is in the running to erase all records and moreover, he managed to erase Rafael Nadal from the shelves this year by far surpassing him in the number of titles in Grand Slam. But the return of the Majorcan raises questions…

A final expected duel

Since Rafael Nadal announced some good news about his return to competition, players on the circuit are starting to receive questions on the subject. Novak Djokovic did not escape it and he declared to the Spanish press during his week in Malaga in Davis Cup that he is impatiently waiting to find his greatest rival on the court. “It would be a bit like a last dance. I don’t know how many more times we will have the opportunity to face each other or if we will. I hope that this will be the case, because that is what everyone wants, and me too,” he confided in particular.

No duel at Roland-Garros?

Rafael Nadal could return to competition at the start of 2024 with the aim of playingAustralian Open. For what seems to be his last season on the circuit, the Mallorcan sees things big. Yet, Novak Djokovic does not want to go and play it on his land. “I think a lot of people would like it to be at Roland Garros, why not? But if you give me the choice, I would say anywhere but not there. Roland Garros wouldn’t be bad, but Nadal is the player who has won there the most times in the history of the tournament. I think any place would be extraordinary for us and for the world of tennis,” fears the Serb.

Nadal back soon

If he has already said that he will have to wait for his clan to communicate the official date of his return, Rafael Nadal is announced in Australia next January. The Spaniard reportedly decided to train hard in December before traveling at the very end of December to go to Australia and play a ATP 250 before the first Grand Slam of the year. In 2022, he had already taken this initiative which paid off since he subsequently won theAustralian Open.
