Cuban Delegation Departs for Parapan American Games in Santiago de Chile 2023

The first group of the Cuban delegation that will participate from the 17th to the 26th in the Parapan American Games in Santiago de Chile 2023, left today for the Chilean capital.

The early departure responds to the fact that they will have the opportunity to complete a training base, with the aim of continuing preparation at the headquarters itself.

As expected, the shooters will complete the 53 athletes on the coming 12th, on a commercial flight, so the Cuban representation will then be complete, led by the standard bearers, the Olympic and world champions Omara Durán and Robiel Yankiel Sol, both in athletics.

This Saturday Omara and Yankiel received the flag that they will carry at the Chilean multidisciplinary event from José Luis Broche, member of the Secretariat and Head of the Department of Attention to the Social Sector of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba.

“They are an expression that with will, discipline and passion you can overcome any obstacle in life,” wrote on the social network Sports of this capital.

Cuba will compete in 10 sports: athletics, judo, taekwondo, table tennis, powerlifting, shooting, badminton, swimming, archery and cycling.

The purpose of these Parapan American Games is to equal the 13 titles of the previous edition of Lima 2019, when Cuba finished in seventh place, according to authorities from the National Institute of Physical Education and Recreation in a recent press conference.
