Club Brugge’s Winter Transfer Plans: Targeting Defensive Reinforcements

The winter transfer window is getting closer and closer and Jupiler Pro League clubs are preparing their transfer plans. This is also the case for Club Brugge.

For defense, the Blauw and Zwart would be in competition with certain Belgian rivals. After finishing fourth in the league last season, Brugge have already had a busy transfer window during the summer.

The club bid farewell to a number of regulars such as Noa Lang, Clinton Mata and Mats Rits. In addition, the sale of Abakar Sylla and Jack Hendry also made the coffers ring. On the other hand, the Club has made several acquisitions. But for now, this does not seem to be enough to satisfy ambitions.

If the European and cup campaigns can be considered satisfactory, with a provisional seventh place, the Club is simply not up to par on a national level.

Great Ghanaian talent

Furthermore, the summer’s acquisitions have in no way produced the expected results. This is why the Club intends to make adjustments in January. Especially on defense.

Despite the departures of Mata and Sylla, among others, the Club did not strengthen this sector last summer. And they want to fix that in January.

Several avenues are therefore being explored to strengthen the defense. The Swedish club Fotboll Direkt mentions the name of Nathaniel Adjei. The Ghanaian has made a strong impression in recent months in Hammarby, Sweden.

At 21, he still has a lot of room for improvement. Even if the Club seems to have a decent budget, it will not be easy to attract Adjei because the competition is tough, including from… Belgium.

Standard and Anderlecht have already been associated with the Ghanaian. The aforementioned media also adds the names of Ghent and Gen.

Furthermore, Leeds United are also said to be in the running. The fight for his signature therefore promises to be fierce.
