Catch-up game in the 3rd league: Saarbrücken defeated leaders Dresden

As of: November 19, 2023 3:33 p.m

1. FC Saarbrücken got three points against leaders Dynamo Dresden at home in Ludwigspark. The Blue Blacks won 1-0 on Sunday.

The rain had caused the game to be canceled around three weeks ago, but now the game against Dynamo Dresden should finally be played. At first it wasn’t certain, because the rains of the last few days have put renewed strain on the Ludwigsparkstadion’s pitch. However, a final test on Sunday morning showed that the grass was definitely playable.

Uneventful game

What was played next was a surprise in terms of the result, but rather unspectacular for long stretches. Both teams started the game calmly at the beginning, watching each other. There was hardly any action in the first 20 minutes on both sides, apart from a header attempt by Kai Brünker (9th), which went wide.

The fans had to wait until the 40th minute. Then striker Brünker came into play again and was able to send a cross from Rizzuto from eight meters from the side into the left corner – 1-0 for the hosts.

Few chances, no goals

After the break there was a little movement, although not really much. Dresden’s efforts to equalize didn’t really pose a threat to the Saarbrücken defense, apart from a header from Schäffler (90′). FCS keeper Tim Schreiber is able to defuse the latter, but injures himself on the post

In regular time, the Saarland team only had one hit on the crossbar by Boné Uaferro (61′) and a free kick that was almost converted (76′).

With a victory thanks to Brünker and a secure defense, 1. FC Saarbrücken ended a long dry spell in the league. Hallesche FC is waiting for the Saarlanders next Saturday. Kick-off in Halle is at 2 p.m.

The current report on SR television on November 17, 2023 also reported on this topic.
