Caribes de Anzoátegui Secures 5-4 Victory Over Cardenales de Lara in 10-Inning Game

Caribes de Anzoátegui defeated Cardenales de Lara 5-4 in a match played at the Antonio Herrera Gutiérrez stadium and which was defined in 10 innings.

Consecutive singles by Carlos Narváez, Ildemaro Vargas and Gorkys Hernández in the second inning allowed the Cardenales to make the first run of the game.

Cardinals made the game 2-0 in the fifth inning. Hernán Pérez opened the inning with a double and scored on a single by Juniel Querecuto.

Caribes scored with one in the sixth thanks to José Fernández’s RBI single. In the seventh the Eastern ninth turned the game around.

Antonio Piñero and Herlis Rodríguez opened the inning with consecutive singles, after stealing third and second base respectively, they scored thanks to a hit by Luis Sardiñas. The third of the inning was scored by Sardiñas driven by a sacrifice fly by Balbino Fuenmayor.

The Cardinals tied it in the eighth inning thanks to RBI singles by Odubel Herrera and Hernán Pérez.

In the tenth inning, Caribes took the lead thanks to a single to right field that brought Eduardo Díaz to the plate.

Andrés Sotillet (S,2) came to put the lock in the bottom of the tenth and although he got complicated with a hit and a walk that loaded the bases, he was able to strike out Yoel Yanqui for the 27th out.

Liarvis Breto (1-0) was the winning pitcher by retiring the only batter he faced in the ninth inning. The loss went to Graham Spraker (1-2) who allowed two hits and a run in one inning of work.

Caribes achieves its eighth victory of the season in 20 games, while Cardenales remains with a record of 14-9.
